Islamic Art - Maharajah's Palace, Jaipur - I find quilt patterns in this and wonder how best to translate the design.

Al Shams: Recreated in beautiful American black walnut, this modern interpretation has been hand-crafted by Alan Adams. In a technique he developed, the individual wood pieces were carefully cut and assembled to resemble a woven pattern, typical of Islamic geometric design. Once carefully assembled, Al Shams was hand finished with natural oils and then sealed with beeswax.

Al Shams lattice panel is inspired by century Mamluk architecture from Cairo, Egypt. This pattern once decorated a pair of minbar doors in the Mosque of Emir Sayf al-Din Qawsun.
