Darkest Hour (2017) In this biopic moment of the early days of WW2, Winston Churchill, newly appointed as Prime Minister, fights to keep fighting the Nazis, instead of "negotiating" peace which he felt would surely lead to the British being controlled by Hitler. His refusal to give up saves 300,000 troops trapped at Dunkirk, which surely changed the course of the war. Oldman is excellent as an exasperating, sputtering, mumbling Churchill.
