dating: 17th/18th Century provenance: Giava, Two with smooth double-edged blade and one with slightly undulated double-edged blade, all in fine pamor and with wooden scabbard, partially embossed and lacquered and with small damages or parts missing. length 34 - 34 - 43.5 cm.

An Eastern European Medieval Sword with Scabbard, first half of the 14th century The hilt all encrusted with silver (niello). The blade inlaid with gilt inscriptions. The upper back side of the blade engraved with a Mameluk inscription (arsenal of Alexandria). Leather bound scabbard with silver mounts. Overall length: 105.3 cm (41.5"); Blade length: 88.4 cm (34.8"); Scabbard length: 89.5 cm (35.2”) Located at Reichsstadtmuseum Rothenburg, Germany.

What a beautiful sword This sword famously appears in Ewart Oakeshott's "Records of the Medieval Sword" as a type XIIa. This is the first time I have seen it in color. Albion borrowed this pommel for their XIIIa Count sword.

Katzbalger, German, about 1510 (Quite possibly historismus?) Iron hilt with extended flared pommel with fluted convex upper edge. Geometric lines decorating the grip area. Quillons are roped and s-shaped with a pair of two-part hollow bronze spheres Blade is Northern Italian with two narrow fullers extending to the tip. Blade may be shortened from a longsword.
