Chapelle Saint-Pierre in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France, dates back to the 15th century. By the 19th century, it was used to store fishing nets. Jean Cocteau cut a deal with the fishermen in 1957 and restored the chapel in his own unique fashion. This link leads to a blog written in French, but the pictures are by far the best I could find.
