WW1. Jean Bouin, French athlete and silver medalist in the 5,000m at the Olympic Games in Stockholm 1912, died two years later, at 25 years old, on the Meuse battlefield. Hundreds of athletes died on the battlefields during the Great War, including 9 French Olympic medalists.WW1.
