Clémentine Delait (March 5, 1865–1939) was a French bearded lady who kept a café. Clémentine Delait and her husband kept a café in Thaon-les-Vosges, in Lorraine, France. According to later accounts, Clémentine Delait visited a carnival, saw a bearded woman with some stubble and boasted that she could grow a better beard herself. Her husband bet 500 francs to back her. The bet attracted many more customers to the Delaits’ café and they changed the name to Le Café de La Femme
Clementine Delait who was born in 1865 in a small town in France. She grew her beard on a bet. Married to the owner of a local cafe, she shaved every day because she had a hairy chin since childhood. When the circus visited a nearby city and the cafe customers were talking about the bearded lady they had seen there, Clementine boasted. "I could produce a better beard than that."
