Persian ironwood, a witch hazel relative, deep red foliage in fall. I think this tree is too big for our yard, which is tragic. Grows slowly to height: 20 to 40 feet and spread: 20 to 30 feet.

The ironwood tree is the mother of the Sonoran Desert. Over 500 species of plants and animals rely on ironwood trees for survival. They have dense canopies that provide shade that’s 15 degrees cooler than the desert air, their seeds are edible, and the enriched soil beneath them gives life to hundreds of plants. Source
