Dick Winters and Lewis Nixon They hardly could have been more different. Winters grew up in a middle class home, Nixon's father was fabulously wealthy. Winters never drank but Nixon was an alcoholic. But they were the best of friends.

Ron Livingston as Lieutenant (eventually Captain) Lewis Nixon, Major Winters' best friend and frequent confidant during the series. For most of the series, he was dreading a divorce with his wife back home and was struggling with alcoholism.
