Tuberculosis is caused by a bacteria (mycobacterium tuberculosis) that spreads through air and breathed into the lungs of individuals. To examine if a person may have tuberculosis, a skin exam is preformed and the size of the induration is examined by physicians. If the test is positive (which may be a false positive due to BCG vaccines) a chest X-ray is preformed for further analysis.
