Eryngium (Sea Holly) - Blue thistle like flowers, sometimes the blue is so intense it is hard to believe they are not dyed.

Eryngium varifolium

Attractive heads provide form and interest in the border. Eryngium planum (Sea Holly) via garden.ee: This herbaceous perennial thistle has branched silvery-blue stems and and numerous small blue conical flowerheads surrounded by spiky bracts.

I LOVE THISTLES! they are so beautiful and so spikey, I like the spikes less.
