The Earth Works pond crew recently came across a Florida Banded Watersnake, Nerodia fasciata pictiventris, which is a non-poisonous snake and one of the three subspecies that makes Florida its home. Their banding is less prominent in mature snakes although that streak of color by its jaw is a distinguishing characteristic. When full grown they may reach a length of 3.5 and feed on frogs, fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do you like snakes or not?
