"La Adelita" came to be an archetype of a woman warrior in Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. "La Adelita" is one of the most famous corridos (folk songs) to come out of the Mexican Revolution. It is the story of a young woman in love with a sergeant who travels with him and his regiment.
Emiliano Zapata Salazar (San Miguel Anenecuilco, Morelos, August 8, 1879 - Chinameca, Morelos, April 10, 1919) was one of the greatest military leaders during the Mexican Revolution and a symbol of peasant resistance in Mexico. As part of the revolutionary movement, he commanded the Southern Liberation Army.

Lazaro Cardenas del Rio. A leader emerged in Mexico as the blood, violence and terror of the Mexican Revolution subsided. Lázaro Cárdenas del Rio had fought under Obregón and had seen his political star rise in the 1920's. His reputation for honesty served him well, and when he took over for the crooked Plutarco Elias Calles in 1934, he quickly began cleaning house, tossing out many corrupt politicians (including Calles). He was a strong, able leader when his country needed it the most.

Both Federal and revolutionary armies made good use of 9,000 miles of railroad tracks laid during the Diaz years. Trains were often used as weapons themselves, packed with explosives and sent off as rolling torpedoes to destroy enemy trains and positions.

Division del Norte de Pancho Villa...Villa was a wealth land owner who helped lead the Mexican Revolution against the old aristocratic rulers. He enriched himself in the process, but also distributed land to the poor and to the soldiers. He is seen as a hero today in Mexico.
