1890: Elizabeth Gurley Flynn is born. Flynn was an organizer for the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), a founding member of the American Civil Liberties Union, and an activist for women’s rights, birth control, and women’s suffrage. The Rebel Girl - labor leader, activist, and feminist played a leading role in the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and was a major force in Lawrence, MA during the 1912 Bread & Roses Strike.
