The dwarf armadillo of Patagonia, also called pichi,  or Zaedyus pichiy for its closest friends, is an uncommon member of its genus. Covered with jagged scales linked by a flexible skin,  he measures up to 1 foot and lives only in southern Agentina and Chile. According to the IUCN, it is a near threatened species.
