This style was created by Percier et Fontaine who were the official ornemanists of the Emperor Napoleon Ist It idealized his leadership and victories, using « imperial » symbols : eagles, winged victories and decorative ornaments inspired by ancient Greece and Rome. The style continued to be in vogue until 1830, and was fashionable again during the Napoleon III period.

Antique Empire style fireplace in Sea Green marble with columns - Marble

This antique Empire style fireplace was made in the 19th century. The multiple clear veins contrast with the deep tones of the Sea Green marble. The jambs consist of columns whose golden moldings add sophistication and ornament to this fireplace. Its beautiful cast iron insert is decorated with multiple small bees, imperial symbol under the First French Empire. This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order.

Jean-François GECHTER (Att. to) - Bonaparte crossing the Great Saint Bernard, important patinated bronze sculpture - Sculpture

This important patinated bronze sculpture, representing General Bonaparte crossing the Great-Saint-Bernard, is attributed to the romantic sculptor Théodore Gechter (1796-1844). The general is represented according to tradition, « calme on a fiery horse », although he had crossed the pass on a mule. The prancing animal confers a dynamism to the composition, which is reinforced by the grandiloquent gesture of Bonaparte draped in a loose cloak. The victorious general, with an idealized face…
