Louis XVI style is a style of furniture and decoration first used in France in 1774, at the beginning of the reign of Louis XVI, to 1785. Part of a European movement of return to classicism in the 2nd half of the 18th century. The antique repertoire is the reference : Greek friezes, interlaced friezes, friezes of pearls and hearts, stylised acanthus leaves... The architecture, the interior decoration and the furniture followed : straight lines and antique ornamental vocabulary.
