Turquin blue marble comes from Italian quarries ( close to Pisa) . There is 2 different shade varieties a lighter called " pale" Turquin and a darker called " Turquin Blue" This grey marble was very popular during the reign of Louis XVI and the First Empire. Its sober aspect suits well Neo Classical styles of furniture and Turquin blue mantels were often adorned with gilded decorations.

Antique Louis XVI style fireplace with round edges in Turquin blue marble - Marble

This charming small antique fireplace, follows the Louis XVI style. It was made out of Bleu Turquin marble during the 19th century. This style with rounded edges, is decorated with fluted and filleted jambs. The upper part of the fireplace is moulded and decorated with a central medallion. This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron gilded insert. The marble floor is available but it's broken and will be restored in our workshop.

This beautiful antique Louis XVI style clock was made by the Maison Denière around 1880. The dial is signed “Denière Ft de Bronzes à Paris.” A glass door placed on a Blue Turquin marble base is adorned with gilt bronze ornaments of floral decorations. The sides are adorned with vases with flower bouquets. The clock is topped with quivers, arrows, and floral wreaths.
