1934, height of the Great Depression, Charles B. Darrow, American Entrepreneur, of Germantown, PA, showed what he called the MONOPOLY game to the executives at Parker Brothers. They rejected the game! But Mr. Darrow wasn't daunted. Like many other Americans, he was unemployed at the time, but decided to produce the game on his own. With help from a friend, he sold 5,000 handmade games to a department store. Ppl loved it! He talked again to Parker Brothers.
