Maharaja Bhupinder Singh (1891-1938) of Patiala, India. He married at least 10 times & had many consorts. He  had 88 children. Of the 10 wives the most notable were 4 sister princesses of a Himalayan kingdom who were his favorites. Bakhtawar Kaur Sahiba (1892–1960), however, took part in official ceremonies as the Maharani & she gave Queen Mary a magnificent necklace on behalf of the Ladies of India during the Delhi Durbar of 1911 to mark the 1st visit to India by a Queen Empress.

The Patiala Necklace Commissioned from the House of Cartier in 1928 by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. It was set with diamonds. its centerpiece was De Beers, a 428 carat diamond, and the seventh largest in the world
