Historical note:  In the early part of the 1800's, there were no drug stores and a household would typically have to administer medications which were available to the servants or other members of the family.  The mahogany case above would be typical of one used in a household of obviously well-to-do people.  In the colonies, these medical cases were used on the "plantations" and contained all sorts of plant extracts and chemicals of dubious use.

Antique leeching kit, with 21 leech cups each about 2" tall, and a glass knife, and an antique pencil used for the burning parts of the process. The knife is 8-1/4" long and has flakes to the blade. Comes in a 6" by 9-3/4" by 4" pyrography box which dates to the 1910s.

Each of the orange rubber rings is marked Ramses with a trademark encircled “R” and with the size of the ring in mm. The box is marked “Ramses TM. Reg. US & Can Pat. Off. Fitting Rings”. 1940-1950.

Antique 1800s Medical Hemorrhoid Forceps Amputation Clamp Instrument with ox bone guards on one side of the blades.  The blades interlock as they come together forcing the metal, crushig of the tissue.  A spring on the back forces the blades open and a adjustible stop keeps them in locked position.  Instrument has a wonderful nickel silver finish with some old flaking and spotting.  Tool shows lots of medical history.    ~salvart ebay
