Claude Monet - The Magpie. The Magpie (French: La Pie) was painted by Monet during the winter of 1868–1869. Between 1867 and 1893, Monet and fellow Impressionists Alfred Sisley and Camille Pissarro painted hundreds of landscapes illustrating the natural effect of snow (effet de neige). The Magpie is one of approximately 140 snowscapes produced by Monet. The Magpie is Monet's largest winter painting.

"Waterlilies" by Claude Monet. c1922, oil on canvas. In the collection of The Toledo (OH) Museum of Art. The compositional features and unusual size of this painting suggest it was conceived as a new half-width canvas for the right side of a triptych entitled "Morning", but then rejected by the artist. It was left unfinished in Monet's studio at his death.

I really like this artwork because he (Monet) can paint such great detail on the flowers and that fact that even though up close it only looks like a bunch of horrible paint brush lines, it is actually a great painting.
