SIZE: 3½ ins h x 1 ins w (8 x 2.5 cms) APPROXIMATE DATE: 1860 -1900 This is a classic example of a hinged mid Victorian small hair comb or hairpin. The hinge permits the heading to rotate so that the ornament can be worn in various positions in the coiffure. In this case the heading is mounted upon two long prongs made out of polished natural coloured horn.
