Although I loved Dominican Republic, I couldn't wait to get back home and eat some good homemade food. I've always loved Jamaican beef patties ever since I was a kid. My mom would buy them from our neighborhood grocery store.
So very glad I found this recipe! It is the same recipe my mother used when I was a child. A few differences in the steps (and no mention of putting dyed Easter eggs in it) but I think the outcome will be what I remember.
A lady gave my Mother this recipe in 1953 and it has been a family favorite ever since. You can serve it with caramel dunking sauce, with some fresh berries, or just plain by itself.
