A mystery the continues to wonder people is the collection of stone spheres or stone balls of Costa Rica that was discovered in Diquis Delta of Costa Rica. More than 300 completely spherical, mane-made stone spheres have been discovered by the archeologists since 1930s. These stones vary in size and weight. Some with small diameter, some with large diameter, and some weigh as much as 16 tons.

The Diquis Spheres  Known locally as Las Bolas, the spheres range in size from a few centimetres to over two metres in diameter, and weigh up to 16 tons. Most are sculpted from gabbro, the granitic equivalent of basalt. There are a dozen or so made from shell-rich limestone, and another dozen made from a sandstone. The stones are believed to have been carved between 200 BC and 1500 AD.

This is a less-is-more approach that I really like - with a gravel mulch you have an attractive background while the (undisturbed) plants have room to spread.  Helichotrichon, sedum, thyme, with pebbles, large and small rocks.  This is very well done.
