Croatia - NDH Ante Pavelić, 1941. Ante Pavelić (1889-1959) was a Croatian fascist general who founded and headed the Ustaše in 1929 and governed the Independent State of Croatia (Croatian: Nezavisna Država Hrvatska, NDH), 1941-1945.
The Independent State of Croatia (Nezavisna Država Hrvatska - NDH) was a World War II puppet state of Germany and Italy. It was established in parts of occupied Yugoslavia on 10 April 1941, after the invasion by the Axis powers, until 8 May 1945. Its territory consisted of most of modern-day Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as some parts of modern-day Serbia and Slovenia.
