Three hares...The earliest examples of the "Three Hares" found in Chinese Buddhist cave temples, ca. 600 CE. The triple hares have also been found on Islamic metalwork, in 13th century Mongol works, and on Iranian copper coins dated to 1281. It's been used to illustrate Christian manuscripts and to decorate the carved wooden fixtures in the ceilings of medieval churches in England.
