Incredibly massive galaxy UGC 12591 - contain four times the mass of the Milky Way. Classified as an S0/Sa galaxy, UGC 12591 sits somewhere between a lenticular and a spiral. It lies in the westernmost region of the Pisces–Perseus Supercluster. It also whirls round extremely quickly, rotating at speeds of up to 1.8 million kilometres per hour!

Nearby Spiral Galaxy NGC 4945. Explanation: Large spiral galaxy NGC 4945 is seen edge-on near the center of this cosmic galaxy portrait. In fact, NGC 4945 is almost the size of our own Milky Way Galaxy. Its own dusty disk, young blue star clusters, and pink star forming regions standout in the sharp, colorful telescopic image. About 13 million light-years distant toward the expansive southern constellation Centaurus, NGC 4945 is only about six times farther away than Andromeda, the nearest…

A stunning new image captured by the Hubble Space Telescope shows a galaxy that’s being strangled by tentacles of gas and dust. The strange and intricate shape of this celestial object is caused by a supermassive black hole at its core—and it’s killing the host.
