NASA’s Curiosity rover poses for a selfie in front of the slip face of Namib Dune, where it measured winds in the dune’s lee and saw grain flows on the slip face and grain movement at the base of the dune.
This is an image of the fractured, rocky surface of Mars. The Curiosity rover took this picture of "Marias Pass" which shows how two different type of rock units come together. Mudstone in the center of the image comes in contact with sandstone on top.
This image, released today, is a high-resolution shot of the Curiosity rover’s ultimate goal: the stratified flanks of Gale Crater’s high central peak, Mount Sharp. The image was taken with Curiosity’s telephoto Mastcam as a calibration test.
The +Milky Way arches across this rare panorama of the night sky above the Paranal platform, home of ESO’s Very Large Telescope. The image was made from 37 individual frames with a total exposure time of about 30 minutes, taken in the early morning hours.

NASA's Mars rover Curiosity cut a wheel scuff mark into a wind-formed ripple at the "Rocknest" site to give researchers a better opportunity to examine the particle-size distribution of the material forming the ripple.
