From cornflakes to air fresheners, Carson Davis Brown uses common groceries to create guerrilla installations in supermarkets. The LA-based artist covertly rearranges the objects, photographs them and has them made into blankets by Walmart’s personalised gift department. New American Quilts, supported by a VSCO Artist Initiative grant, is inspired by Amish quilts, but though Brown’s quilts are based on traditional patterns, they are made in the context of modern capitalism.
